Around Camarillo

Rendering of the proposed Gymnasium.
New Indoor Gymnasium Planned for Camarillo
Camarillo’s first indoor multi-use gymnasium is one step closer to becoming a reality after strong community support and a recent Board vote approving a 16,000 sq. ft. conceptual design.
The proposed facility would include basketball courts, flexible activity space, and community gathering areas. While $9 million has been secured so far, additional funding is still needed potentially through a ballot measure voters could see in November 2026.

New Affordable Housing Project Planned on Arneill Road
A new affordable housing project on Arneill Road is moving one step closer to construction after the City Council approved the next phase of the process.
The development is part of a broader effort to expand housing options in Camarillo, with construction expected to begin once bids are received and approved.
Did You See the SpaceX Launch? 🚀
A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched from Vandenberg on Monday, lighting up the evening sky and putting on a show visible across Camarillo.
If you missed it, another launch is already scheduled for March 20th and may also be visible from the area if conditions are clear.
Local Spotlight: Hill Canyon

View overlooking Hill Canyon trails in Camarillo.
One of Camarillo’s best outdoor escapes is Hill Canyon, a scenic trail system tucked just outside town at Santa Rosa Valley Park.
The main trail is about 2 miles out and back, following a wide path alongside a creek with views of rolling hills and canyon ridgelines. It’s flat, beginner-friendly, and popular with walkers, runners, bikers, and even horseback riders.
👉 Hidden Gem: Some of the side trails branch off into the surrounding canyons and can even connect toward Paradise Falls for a longer, more adventurous hike.
One tip: there’s very little shade along most of the trail, so it’s best to go earlier in the morning and bring plenty of water.
This weekend, Hill Canyon will also be the setting for the Hill Canyon Trail Trot; a great chance to experience it if you haven’t yet.
