Hi neighbor!
If you’re still figuring out Easter weekend, here’s a quick plan.
A free event, a few solid brunch spots, and one small neighborhood thing you’ve probably walked past without noticing.
Let’s get into it.
☀️ Weekend Weather

Local forecast via Grant @CamWX
Warm weekend ahead, with some wind
Mild temperatures in the wake of the cold front will begin to warm as we head toward the weekend. A building ridge combined with increasing offshore flow will support the development of a weak to moderate Santa Ana wind event, with periods of gusty winds likely from Thursday night through Saturday.
Quieter conditions return next week as onshore flow redevelops. Temperatures will ease down a few degrees but are expected to remain above normal.

Homelessness is down in Ventura County, but the story isn’t that simple.
Homelessness is falling in Ventura County, but the people still on the streets are often the hardest to reach. In Camarillo, numbers dropped 23%, yet most unsheltered residents have been homeless for years.
Thinking About Adding a Small Rental Unit to Your Home?
Camarillo just updated its rules on Junior Accessory Dwelling Units, small spaces of up to 500 sq ft carved out inside an existing home. No extra parking required, no need to add a separate bathroom. The Planning Commission approved the changes March 31st, and it heads to City Council next.

Local Spotlight: Little Free Libraries

Aloha Library, one of several Little Free Libraries tucked around Camarillo
I found my first Little Free Library while walking my newborn around the neighborhood. A small wooden box sat along the sidewalk, filled with children’s books. It felt like a small, unexpected find.
Turns out there are 43 of them scattered around Camarillo.
One local resident asked for hers as a 40th birthday gift nearly five years ago. Since then, it has filled up with everything from popular fiction to kids’ books, along with the occasional surprise. “I once found a book all about curing toenail fungus in there,” she said. She describes the library as something simple that helps make the neighborhood feel a little more connected.
Another is called the Aloha Library, inspired by her husband’s Hawaiian heritage and her kids’ love of reading. It went up this February and is already getting steady use, especially with a park and school nearby. “Seeing kids stop by on their way to or from the park has been really special,” she said. You can find it on Instagram at @808alohalibrary.
Not all of them are filled with books. One is entirely puzzles.
A local family started a puzzle library earlier this year, inspired by their kids and a shared love of puzzling at home. It has quickly become a spot for neighbors to swap and discover new puzzles. “There really wasn’t anywhere to exchange them,” she said. You can follow along at @adachshundpieces.
Small boxes, scattered across Camarillo. Quiet reminders that people are still willing to share something with their neighbors.
Pet of the Week

“She is SO much fun and makes us smile every day.”
Ventura County Animal Services is currently offering $0 adoption fees for all shelter pets, with a special need for adopters for large dogs.
